Marta Lewicka

About Marta

Marta Lewicka is a Polish mathematician, specializing in Mathematical Analysis. Marta obtained her PhD in 2000 from Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (Italy) on Hyperbolic Systems of Conservation Laws. After a postdoc in Max Planck Institute (Germany) and the University of Chicago, she has been an associate professor at the University of Minnesota, Rutgers University and University of Pittsburgh. Marta was a recipient of the McKnight Land Grant award at U of Minnesota (2007) and the NSF Career Award (2009). She was a plenary speaker at the Joint Math Meetings of the American Mathematical Society (2016) and the Rowlee Lecturer at the University of Nebraska (2017). In 2018, she received a Simons Fellowship in Mathematics. In 2020 Marta was honored by the professor’s scientific title, awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland. Marta has authored more than sixty research papers and a book.
